Theme : “ The place of the Holy Scriptures in the ministry of Jesus Christ ”
Text : Matthew 4:8-11
8. The devil carried him again to a very high mountain, showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, 9. and said to him: I will give you all these things, if you bow down and worship me. 10. Jesus said to him: Withdraw, Satan! For it is written: You shall worship the Lord your God, and serve him alone. 11. Then the devil left him. And behold, angels came to Jesus, and ministered to him.
Let's remember:
It was almost the scene that caused Satan's downfall when Yahweh cast him out of heaven. He wanted to rise above the Creator. In these passages, the devil wants to rise above Jesus because we only worship the one who is high. Now, this is God's domain of definition. The Eternal does not agree to share his glory with men nor his honor with idols. This dialogue could no longer continue because Satan had touched God's sensitive chord. Several passages (Daniel 7:13-14; Revelation 21:26; Isaiah 60:11-13) announce that Jesus will receive glory BUT from the hands of his Father by obedience to the cross; and not from the hands of satan by worshiping him. Christ refused to adore satan who wants to interfere to deceive the vigilance of Jesus and enslave him. Christ opposed him a categorical refusal based on the Holy Scriptures. Let us beware of those who manipulate the Holy Scriptures to divert our attention. Jesus had to go through death before receiving glory; not by worshiping the devil. Worship is God's preserve. Let us have the knowledge of the Holy Scriptures, it is an effective weapon to fight the devil. Excellent Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
