Theme: “The Lord is Near”
Text: Romans 13:11-14
11. This is all the more important, because you know the time that it is now, that it is time for you to wake up from sleep, for salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13. Let us walk honestly, as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in lust and sexual immorality, not in strife and jealousy. 14. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
Let us remember:
The Lord is near; nearer than ever before. We are witnessing the fulfillment of all the signs announced several centuries before our era. We are in the end times. Let every child of God watch over his lamp by checking if there is enough oil. Let us also check the length of the wick that remains, can it last until the coming of the Son of God? We must put aside everything that distracts us in order to focus our attention on the imminent arrival of the Lord. It is time to wake up from sleep. It is no longer even prudent to doze off to avoid being surprised by the course of events. Let us keep our attention to the maximum because now salvation is closer to us than when we believed. The night is advanced, the day is approaching. No one knows in which watch the Lord Jesus would appear. Let us remove the encumbrances that prevent our faith from growing. Let us strip ourselves of the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light. Let us not make light coexist with darkness, for the consequences are dire and irremediable. Let us refute distraction in all its forms. Let us do so rigorously, lest we be cast out on the last day. Let us walk honestly, as in the daytime, far from excesses and drunkenness, from lust and fornication, from quarrels and jealousies. Let us devote ourselves to prayer, and a better prayer. Let us not fall into superficiality, but let us put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and let us not make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. Rather, let us treat our flesh harshly. Let us remove conflicts of spiritual interest. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
