Theme: “The Lord is Near”
Text: Genesis 28:10-17
10. Jacob left Beersheba and went to Haran. 11. And he came to a place, and lodged there, for the sun had set. And he took a stone from there, and made it his bed, and lay down in that place. 12. And he had a dream. And behold, a ladder was set on the earth, and its top reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on the ladder. 13. And behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac: to you and to your seed will I give the land on which you lie. 14. Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth; you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south; and in you and in your descendants will all the families of the earth be blessed. 15. Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you. 16. And Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, Surely the LORD is in this place, and I knew it not. 17. And he was afraid and said, How awesome is this place! This is the house of God, this is the gate of heaven!
Remember:
Every day, the Lord is close to us. At the very moment when we think we have been abandoned by God, when we feel alone and discouraged, it is at this very moment that he is closest to us. Our way of thinking has nothing in common with the way God works. The Lord is close to the souls who are cast down, he is close to those who seek him in spirit and in truth. For some who think they are moving away to flee the mission of serving God, those who go far from their fields of action like Jonah, God is waiting for you there. When you arrive, you will be right in front of God. We do not know that God is omnipresent and omniscient. How can we flee from such a person who sees everything and is everywhere at the same time? In addition, he is omnipotent, he can reveal himself in all possible forms to speak to our intelligence. Jacob received the visitation of God by means of a dream. He who believed to be alone finally saw himself with several angels at the head of which stood God. Whether we sleep or are awake, let us know that the Lord is near. Let us not put off until tomorrow what can be done today. The Lord is near, let us open our hearts to his grace. Let us welcome his project of peace and salvation that he proposes to us. Let us accept his thought and not distance ourselves from Him. God is the bedside stone on which we rest. Soon he will come down from his ladder to visit us, reassure us, save us and take us with Him. Excellent Monday. Amen
