The life of Daniel: what lessons for us?

Wednesday September 1st, 2021

Theme : “ The life of Daniel: what lessons for us? " Text : Daniel 6: 19-22

19. The king rose up at daybreak, at dawn, and went in haste to the den of lions. 20. As he approached the pit, he called out for Daniel in a sad voice. The king spoke and said to Daniel, Could Daniel, servant of the living God your God, whom you serve with perseverance, been able to deliver you from the lions? 21. And Daniel said to the king, King, live forever? 22. My God sent his angel and shut the mouths of the lions, which did me no harm, because I was found innocent before him; and before you either, O king, I have done nothing bad.

Let us remember :

We keep learning about Daniel's life all the time. Here, his innocence and his hope founded in God have earned him divine protection. We learn that God can shut the mouth of a hungry lion so that his son is protected. Conversely, these same lions devoured his enemies. Even in the lion's den, Daniel was not screaming, he was not afraid, he was not shaking, he was not panicking. He did not say a prayer out of fear as if to say: Lord, do not abandon me, come to my aid… Daniel was calm. When people hurt us, God takes away their joy and peace, and when they repent God gives them peace and joy. The king had lost his peace and his joy; then he found them when he heard that Daniel was safe. Daniel had kept the same respect for the king who wanted to kill him. On leaving the pit, Daniel did not hold a grudge and did not seek to destroy his detractors although some were killed. Daniel kept his humility and did not give in to arrogance. Excellent month of September. Amen Alain Louz.-
