Theme : “ The life of Daniel: what lessons for us? "
Text : Daniel 2: 10-20
10. The Chaldeans answered the king, There is no one on the earth who can say what the king asks; so never did a king, however great and powerful he was, demanded such a thing from any magician, astrologer or Chaldean. 11. What the king asks is difficult; there is no one who can tell the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not among men. 12. Thereupon the king became angry, and was violently irritated. He ordered that all the wise men of Babylon be destroyed. 13. The sentence was published, the wise men were put to death, and Daniel and his companions were sought to be destroyed. 14. Then Daniel addressed himself in a prudent and sensible manner to Arjoch, chief of the king's guard, who had gone out to put to death the wise men of Babylon. 15. He spoke and said to Arjoch, the king's commander, "Why is the king's sentence so severe?" Arjoc explained the matter to Daniel. 16. And Daniel came unto the king, and begged him to give him time to give the king the explanation. 17. Then Daniel went to his house, and he informed of this matter Hananiah, Mischael and Azariah, his companions, 18. urging them to implore the mercy of the God of heaven, so that Daniel and his companions would not be destroyed with them. the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19. Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. And Daniel blessed the God of heaven. 20. Daniel spoke and said, Blessed be the name of God from everlasting to everlasting! To him belong wisdom and strength.
Let us remember :
The lives of those who have marked the history of the Bible must teach us. Lessons must be learned according to each circumstance to appropriate the teachings that God gives us. In this text, we learn that Daniel was one of the sages of the country. A child of God should be a model of wisdom and discipline. Daniel believed that God had no limits so he could reveal the hidden things. The other sages said that only the gods could reveal his dream to the king, but they did not pray to these gods for this purpose. Daniel also knew that only God had this knowledge and he formed an intercessory group to beg God to speak to him. Daniel had the courage to ask the king for time to seek the face of God with his companions. When God revealed himself to him, he took the time to give thanks without rushing to see the king. Daniel had firm faith and was not afraid, he relied only on God. Excellent Monday. Amen Alain Louz.-
