The Life of Daniel

Wednesday July 10, 2024

Theme: “The Life of Daniel

Text: Daniel 6:19-22

19. The king rose up at daybreak, with dawn, and went hastily to the lions' den. 20. As he approached the pit, he called to Daniel in a sad voice. The king answered and said to Daniel, Could Daniel, servant of the living God, your God, whom you serve with patience, deliver you from the lions? 21. And Daniel said to the king, King, live forever? 22. My God sent his angel and stopped the mouths of the lions, who did me no harm, because I was found innocent before him; and neither before you, O king, have I done anything evil.

Let's remember:

Daniel's life is a life of consecration. Nothing and no one can reach the one whom God has consecrated. It is written: “Every weapon formed against you will not succeed; And every tongue that rises up in righteousness against you, You will condemn. This is the inheritance of the servants of the LORD, this is the salvation that will come to them from me, says the LORD” Isaiah 54:17. The devil's vassals had plotted against Daniel out of jealousy, in order to put him to death. They involved King Darius in their macabre enterprise. But they forgot that it is God, the true King, the King of kings who is the Creator of the lions. Jesus is the lion of the tribe of Judas; even if satan imitates him by roaring “like a lion seeking someone to devour”. In Daniel, we feel serenity, self-control, the assurance of belonging to a protective God. He confesses his God publicly without shame. It is true that King Darius knew that Daniel was innocent and he wanted to save him all day. But the conspirators had the decree sealed according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which made it irrevocable, impossible to circumvent. The God of Daniel, our God, made it revocable by abrogating it by means of the inactive and weakened lions, the harmless and vulnerable lions in front of Daniel. Our hero Daniel is very polite and consistent in his words, his actions and his actions. He wasn't screaming from the bottom of the well. No anxiety, no trouble. He was calm and well protected by the lions. He was patient because he knew the mode of action of his God. Have a great Wednesday. Amen
