Theme: “The Holy Spirit: his mission in the Church and society”
Text: Judges 3:9-10
9. The children of Israel cried out to the LORD, and the LORD raised up for them a deliverer who delivered them, Othniel the son of Kenaz, the younger brother of Caleb. 10. The spirit of the LORD was upon him. He became a judge in Israel, and he went to war. The LORD delivered Cuschan Risheathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand, and his hand was mighty against Cushan Risheathaim.
Let's remember:
The Holy Spirit lives in us, he accompanies us in our life, in faith within the Church. He directs us, convicts us of sin, judgment and righteousness; he assists us, encourages us, defends us, guides us, enlightens us, instructs us, speaks to us, combats sin in us, he perfects us in the faith. The mission of the Holy Spirit in the Church and society consists of serving as a guide to light our lantern in order to love God and live in his light. He teaches us to remain faithful to Christ, the Head of the Church. The Holy Spirit traces the path that society must follow. When the children of Israel cried out to God, he gave them Othniel, on whom he had invested the Holy Spirit. Othniel means “lion of God, God is mighty, my strength is God”. It was on Othniel that God relied through the Holy Spirit to save Israel. Through Othniel, the Holy Spirit bore witness to the truth. He made revelations to her. He guided his decisions and protected Israel from dangers. He consoled, calmed their fears and gave them hope. Othniel's work was "Not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts" (Zech. 4:6). The Spirit of God had prepared him long before. Thanks to the Holy Spirit, Othniel judged Israel, led their battles, won the battles, held moral authority, and defeated their enemies. He was an instrument of God, he brought Israel into a 40-year rest. Have a great Monday. Amen
