Theme : " The Holy God wants us to be holy "
Text : Exodus 20: 8-11
8. Remember the day of rest, to keep it holy. 9. Six days shalt thou work, and do all thy work. 10. But the seventh day is the day of rest of the LORD your God; you shall do no work, neither you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your cattle, nor yours. stranger who is in your doors. 11. For in six days the LORD made the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day: therefore the LORD blessed the day of rest and sanctified it.
Let us remember:
It is certainly the least respected commandment. Indeed, during the day supposed to be of rest; each person always has something to do instead of resting. Some do the housework, the laundry, the dishes, the braids, the family shopping; others go to sport, still others carry out their daily professional activities. Especially in the West, the work does not stop versus in Africa where the day of rest is "a little moderate". But in God's plan, the day of rest was the Sabbath (Shabbat or Shabbat) therefore the current Saturday. It begins as soon as night falls on Friday evening. Shabbat is officially a non-working day in Israel, and other than shopping, public transport does not operate. However, the Greco-Roman calendar had imposed Sunday as a day of rest instead of Saturday. Note that the Hebrew calendar always respects Saturday as a day of rest until then. Regardless, let's sanctify our day of rest the same way we are to sanctify ourselves before the face of God. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
