Theme: “The crucifixion is a source of glorification of the Lord Jesus Text: Mark 16:1-8

1. When the Sabbath was over, Mary of Magdala, Mary, mother of James, and Salome bought spices to go and embalm Jesus. 2. On the first day of the week, they went to the sepulchre, very early in the morning, as the sun had just risen. 3. They said among themselves, Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the sepulchre? 4. And looking up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. 5. They entered the sepulchre, saw a young man seated on the right dressed in a white robe, and they were terrified. 6. He said to them: Do not be dismayed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified; he is risen, he is not here; here is the place where it was put. 7. But go and tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, as he told you. 8. They came out of the sepulcher and fled. Fear and confusion had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, because of their fear.

Let's remember:

Here is the crispiest part of the earthly life of Jesus Christ, this sequence which marks his indisputable superiority over all flesh. What would become of the faith of Christians if Jesus had not been resurrected? It is also this resurrection that accentuates and further enhances our theme that the crucifixion is the source of the glorification of the Lord Jesus. It is because there was the crucifixion that Jesus died. And it is because there is the crucifixion that Jesus is resurrected. Finally, it is because there was the crucifixion that Jesus was glorified both by his Father, the angels and by men. The crucifixion of Jesus is the culmination of his work not only because it raised Jesus Christ to the top of the earth; but also because it solved the problem of redeeming humanity that was rolling and wallowing in the mire of sin. How can we not glorify the only person who could solve a problem that ran for millennia? How not to glorify the one who interrupted the pride of the devil and of sin? How not to glorify the one who vanquished the cross, death, sin with a single stroke? The crucifixion put a point of honor in the work of Jesus. Henceforth all generations find their salvation at the cross thanks to the glorified crucified; the risen crucified. Excellent Easter Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
