Theme: “The crucifixion is a source of glorification of the Lord Jesus“
Text: 1 Corinthians 1:18-25
18. For the preaching of the cross is folly to those who perish; but to us who are saved it is a power of God. 19. Therefore it is written: I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And I will destroy the understanding of the intelligent. 20. Where is the sage? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this age? Has not God convicted the wisdom of the world of madness? 21. For since the world with its wisdom did not know God in the wisdom of God, it pleased God to save the believers by the foolishness of preaching. 22. The Jews ask for miracles and the Greeks seek wisdom: 23. we preach Christ crucified; scandal to the Jews and madness to the Gentiles, 24. but power of God and wisdom of God to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks. 25. For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Let's remember:
Human intelligence does not perceive the mystery hidden in the preaching of the cross. The world fails to understand how anyone could offer himself as a sacrifice on the cross just to save sinners? People ask what did Jesus gain by making such a sacrifice? It takes a good degree of spiritual maturity to perceive the validity of this sacrificial and saving work that is the cross. Because of this lack of spiritual savvy, the disbelievers think that the cross is madness, an aberration, while for those who are saved, the cross is the expression of the power of God. Even those who believed themselves wise and those who were intelligent could not understand the mystery of the cross, they saw their wisdom destroyed and their intelligence annihilated. God has convicted the wisdom of the world of folly. A spiritual whirlwind covered the eyes of the wise and intelligent of this world. The dimension of the cross chosen by God exceeded the threshold of understanding the natural man, the man without God. Only those who had the science of God could have access to hidden things such as the mystery of the cross. Even the disciples had waited a long time before solving this mystery. After they understood, they pledged to save people through the madness of preaching. The Jews ask for miracles while the miracle of the cross is in front of them. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
