Topic: "The Conduct of the Christian Widow"

Text: Luke 18:1-5

1. Jesus spoke a parable to them, to show that we must always pray and not lose heart. 2. He said, There was in a city a judge who did not fear God or regard man. 3. There was also a widow in that city who came to him, saying, "Venge me of my adversary." 4. For a long time he refused. But afterward he said within himself, "Although I do not fear God or regard man, 5. nevertheless, because this widow troubles me, I will vindicate her, so that she will not continually come and weary me."

Remember:

The conduct of the Christian widow must not be a careless conduct. She must not be lazy and weak. She must not self-flagellate and above all never admit defeat. The widow's conduct must crescendo towards the summit of success. She must not fall into denial or abandonment. She must not tire and become discouraged. The purpose of this parable was to show that we must always pray, and not give up (according to verse 1). We have also seen that this widow was persevering and diligent in her request. While her cause seemed lost in advance, God opened a door of hope for her by touching the hardened heart of the judge so that the widow would find success and be comforted. Perseverance is a powerful weapon, capable of making our prayers succeed. When the widow insists, the Lord sees the strength of her faith. The widow must not abandon unfulfilled requests. She must neither become discouraged nor give up. She must pray without tiring, continue to beg God without giving up. The Lord gives justice to those who cry to Him day and night. Even when the answer is slow, let us wait in patience while remaining in persevering prayer. The Lord hears the prayers we make and that we have already forgotten; He hears them in His time. Excellent Wednesday. Amen
