Theme : "The Church's Numerical Growth"
Text: Acts 2:37-41
37. After hearing this discourse, their hearts were greatly touched, and they said to Peter and to the other apostles: Men, brothers, what shall we do? 38. Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39. For the promise is to you, to your children, and to all that are far off, as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40. And with many other words he conjured them and exhorted them, saying, Save yourselves from this perverse generation. 41. Those who accepted his word were baptized; and on that day the number of the disciples increased to about three thousand souls.
Let's remember:
Throughout the ages, there have always been seasons when God caused a mass spiritual awakening simultaneously in many lands. There are also seasons when God used a few preachers whom he granted to be powerful and relevant during the gatherings. However, there are also conversions of small numbers in families and in small prayer groups. All this numerical growth strengthens the mission and restores dynamism to the Church. Still, it takes workers who must rise to speak in the Name of God in order to call the crowds to repentance. God is responsible for convincing the hearts of the said crowds. God programs the seasons of conversion for each believer as it says in Philippians 2:13, “for it is God who works in you to will and to do, according to his good pleasure”. Numerical growth also depends on the message that the workers convey. Pierre's was quite simple and clear. The assurance and determination of the messenger, his relationship with God are keys that promote the conversion of the faithful and therefore create numerical growth within the Church. Can't wait for these souls who come to the Lord to be well followed and nourished to prepare them for eternal salvation in Christ. Digital growth should not be the ultimate goal, salvation is the target. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
