Theme: "The Church, a pluralistic but also supportive community" Text: Acts 11:27-30
27. At that time prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28. One of them, named Agabus, arose, and declared by the Spirit that there would be a great famine throughout the earth. It arrived, in fact, under Claude. 29. The disciples resolved to send, each according to his ability, help to the brethren who lived in Judea. 30. They sent it to the elders through the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
Let's remember:
Let us not wait for the prophets to announce the occurrence of difficult situations before committing ourselves to helping our neighbour. It should be a natural gesture if not a correct spiritual gesture. Nowadays, there are countries at war and others threatened by great famines, epidemics and natural disasters. By contacting the nationals of these countries or even their embassies, goods can be sent to the bereaved peoples. If we install such a surge of solidarity, the world will get better and better. The same is true of our neighbors and our close or distant families. Several members of our families suffer from hunger, nudity, destitution in different forms. There is no need to go house to house, but we can at least mobilize some food for them. Let us be sensitive to the misfortune of our neighbor and that is where we will be in solidarity with them. Compassion alone is not enough to help a needy. We must take action without hesitation and without regretting our gesture of the heart. There are people of good testimony who can be sent to those who are suffering to bring them relief. These donations can be made by forming groups or even individually. The most important thing is to accomplish this gesture of the heart. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
