Theme: "The Church, a pluralistic but also supportive community" Text: 1 Corinthians 16:1-4
1. As regards the collection in favor of the saints, act, you also, as I have commanded the Churches of Galatia. 2. Let each of you, on the first day of the week, set aside at home what he can, according to his prosperity, so that they do not wait for my arrival to collect the donations. 3. And when I come, I will send with letters to take your gifts to Jerusalem, the persons whom you have approved. 4. If the thing deserves me to go myself, they will travel with me.
Let's remember:
Do not expect the church to be in solidarity with its faithful or its servants. It is up to us to do useful work to involve the church in the collection of goods. If each faithful put his will to build the work of God; the Christian world would be transformed. We can only do great things if we mobilize in community entrepreneurship. The fundamental mission of the church is to save souls lost in darkness in order to embark them for eternal life under the guidance of Jesus Christ. In addition to this basic mission, the church is responsible for several other missions, including that of visiting and helping the poor. We must therefore give the church its second face which consists in bringing a smile to the needy who languish in the greatest destitution in full view of all. Paul had created an organization which was in charge of collecting goods; then, they had to be forwarded to the members who were in difficulty. It is in this that the pluralistic church becomes united with its faithful in difficulty. We must suffer together and rejoice together. We can give everything without any distinction and without hesitation. Clothes, drinks, furniture, food, real estate in short everything but nothing. Since we are a pluralistic community, let's stick together. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
