Theme: “The Christian, peacemaker” Text: Romans 14:19
19. Therefore, let us seek what contributes to peace and mutual edification.
Let's remember:
We are invited to seek what contributes to peace. The verb search can sometimes take the same meaning as the verb search. The nuance is that to research is “to seek carefully, insistently, methodically”. There is therefore a nuance of manner or intensity between seeking and seeking. Seeking peace requires a methodology that is sometimes spiritual and also intellectual for others. Search is therefore the action of seeking to obtain what one desires. Search can have the synonyms explore, search, browse, investigate, seek out, prospect. When we seek something precious like peace, we must rely on dialogue, facts and gestures. We must build this approach on prayer and consistency between aspirations and daily practice. There is no point in seeking peace when we speak badly to others, when we minimize them, we disrespect them, we exclude them in decision-making, we disadvantage them, we discriminate against them, we despise them... Let us seek what contributes to peace. It is important to detect what is deteriorating the climate of peace. If we know the causes of the absence of peace, we will know how to take steps to bring back this peace. Let us also know the value of peace. When we lose peace, it is more difficult to restore it because destroying is easier than building. It is while we are at peace that we install the mechanisms for its protection, its preservation. The search for peace can be theoretical, applied, exploratory, descriptive, explanatory, correlational, qualitative, quantitative. May each faithful find pleasure in seeking that which contributes to peace. Excellent peaceful Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
