Theme: “The Christian faced with the challenge of development” Text: Philippians 4:18-20
18. I have received everything, and I am in abundance; I have been filled with blessings, receiving from Epaphroditus what comes from you like a sweet-smelling perfume, a sacrifice which God accepts, and which is pleasing to him. 19. And my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20. To our God and Father be the glory forever and ever! Amen!
Let's remember:
The Christian faced with the challenge of development: the need for recognition and thanksgiving to God. The challenge of development must not stop at a perpetual search for development; we must always take the time to say thank you to the actors whom God touches to contribute to this development. There are surely people who finance, who advise, who accompany, who intercede, in short, there are people who wet their shirts to make our development challenge succeed. These people without whom the long-awaited development would not be at the rendezvous at H-hour. Let's pause and say thank you from the bottom of our hearts and pray that God will do them good too. May the Lord God visit them and fill them with his grace. It is good to thank people but we must also and above all give thanks to God who is the author of development. We must express our gratitude to the Lord of the earth who works wonders in our lives. It is indeed He who touches the sometimes hardened hearts of men in order to inscribe there the obligation to contribute to our challenge of development. Giving thanks or saying thank you is a great challenge that many people do not know how to meet. Let us not forget that all development can collapse like a house of cards for lack of gratitude towards men and towards God. This was the case with the ten lepers in Luke 17 who received healing from a distance, without physical contact with Jesus; only one left to say thank you. Jesus had castigated this attitude, which bordered on proven ingratitude. The challenge of development should not resign us to greed and ingratitude. Excellent Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
