Theme: “The Christian, Equipped for Service” Text: 1 Corinthians 12:7-11
7. Now to each the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. 8. For to one is given by the Spirit a word of wisdom; to another a word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9. to another, faith, by the same Spirit; to another, the gift of healings, by the same Spirit; 10. to another, the gift of working miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, the discernment of spirits; to another, the diversity of languages; to another, the interpretation of tongues. 11. One and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing them to each one in particular as he wills.
Let's remember:
The Christian is not equipped to serve himself but to serve others. It is quite clear that each must receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon him and he becomes a disciple. From then on, he will exercise his discipleship all over the world, without forgetting himself, without forgetting his Jerusalem, his house, his family, his city, his country, his continent. It is for service that God equips his people. Seeing the plurality of gifts, we will say that it is necessary to do service in cohesion in order to avoid overlapping or bad competition. It is therefore very important to put the mission of serving first in order to increase its impact. All the gifts that the Spirit places at the disposal of the people must be used for the common good. Let it be the word of wisdom; the word of knowledge, faith, the gift of healing, the gift of working miracles; The prophecy; discerning of spirits; the diversity of languages; or the interpretation of tongues; all this is given for the common utility. We are all equipped with the one and the same Spirit who operates all these things, distributing them to each one in particular as he wills. If we are not equipped with the Holy Spirit, there will be no active gifts. No spiritual gift is active without the Holy Spirit. We are therefore equipped to serve God, his creation and his Church.
