Theme: “The Christian, Equipped for Service” Text: Ezekiel 33:1-9
1. The word of the LORD came unto me, saying: 2. Son of man, speak unto the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man into their midst and set him as a watchman, 3. if that man sees the sword coming upon the land, blow the trumpet, and warn the people; 4. and if he who hears the sound of the trumpet does not be warned, and the sword comes to surprise him, his blood will be on his head. 5. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and he was not warned, his blood will be on him; if he allows himself to be warned, he will save his soul. 6. If the watchman sees the sword coming, and does not sound the trumpet; If the people are not warned, and the sword come and take away someone's life, he will perish for his iniquity, but I will demand his blood again from the watchman. 7. And you, son of man, have I made you a watchman over the house of Israel. You must listen to the word that comes out of my mouth, and warn them from me. 8. When I say to the wicked: Wicked, you will die! if you do not speak to turn the wicked from his way, that wicked person will die in his iniquity, and I will demand his blood from you. 9. But if you warn the wicked to turn him from his way, and he does not turn from it, he will die in his iniquity, and you will save your soul.
Let's remember:
To avoid slippage within the church, God uses a faithful servant whom he equips to sound the trumpet when necessary. When a people has such a warner, and he does his work according to the call received; this people will be warned of all the potential dangers that would arise. Note that it is the people who choose their sentinel and God validates. When the choice comes from the people, it is clear that the person chosen will be listened to by the people. The sentinel has a duty to watch, he must put himself in the breach. Day and night, he must be on the lookout for information from God. His discernment must always be at the top, to the maximum. He has no right to doze off while God speaks to him. He must go out of his way to speak to the people with persuasion in order to save them from the sword. The sentry must not give up because all the hope of the people is based on him. This is how the Christian is equipped for service. When God gives the tools to such a servant, he expects his frank cooperation and obedience. By cooperating with God and doing his work with zeal and love, God will clear him of the stubbornness of the people. God's warnings are a grace for the people because a people without revelation is a tragedy, a sure rout. If God equips a man, it is to sound the trumpet and save the people. Excellent Tuesday.
