The Christian, a reflection of Christ

Thursday, August 1, 2024

Theme: "The Christian, a reflection of Christ"

Text: 1 Peter 2:20-22

20. For what glory is there in enduring mistreatment for having committed faults? But if you endure suffering for what is good, this is a grace in the sight of God. 21. For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps, 22. Who committed no sin, and in whose mouth was found no guile;

Let us remember:

We like to accomplish works to the greatness of those accomplished by Jesus while we are not his reflection in obedience, modesty, submission, devotion, sacrifice and humility. We cannot bear to be mistreated unjustly. We react violently as soon as our ego is touched. There is no control in our way of acting. On the contrary, we have knee-jerk reactions similar to those of pagans. We lose control when our integrity and dignity are violated. Only conflicts on social networks, in places of service, within various groups and even at home with our families. We make mistakes but we refuse to bear the suffering that results from them. While each mistake made comes with its share of consequences, we attribute ours to the poor innocents. We tend to victimize ourselves to hide our guilt. What glory is there in enduring mistreatment for having committed mistakes? But if we bear suffering when we do what is good, it is a grace before God. And this is what we have been called to, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that we should follow in his steps, he who committed no sin, and in his mouth was found no guile. Excellent month of August. Amen
