The Blessings of Offerings and Tithing

Saturday November 5, 2022

Theme: “The Blessings of Offerings and Tithing" Text: Luke 6:30-38 30. Give to anyone who asks you, and do not claim your property from anyone who takes it. 31. What you want men to do for you, do the same for them. 32. If you love those who love you, how grateful will you be? Sinners also love those who love them. 33. If you do good to those who do good to you, what will you be grateful for? Sinners also do the same. 34. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what will you be grateful for? Sinners also lend to sinners, in order to reciprocate. 35. But love your enemies, do good, and lend without expecting anything. And your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and to the wicked. 36. Be therefore merciful, as your Father is merciful. 37. Judge not, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; absolve, and you will be absolved. 38. Give, and it will be given to you: a good measure will be poured into your bosom, squeezed, shaken and overflowing; for you will be measured with the measure you use. Remember: In making the gift to our neighbour, it must be done in a disinterested way. Whoever makes a donation should not be preoccupied with his personal interest, he should not act out of self-interest. What concerns him is the joy and happiness he brings to his neighbour. If someone is in need, let's not refuse him help, let's not be indifferent. The door of our heart must open to each solicitation; as long as we have enough to satisfy him. How we share; this is how we will also be divided. But let's not expect the same people to donate to us as well. God will raise up others to do us good. So don't call them ungrateful. Let's not wait for them to come and prostrate themselves before us to put themselves at our service. We are not told to refuse to share with those who do us good. If someone comes to ask for a loan, let's give him a gift of what we can have available. The gift is the reflection of our mercy; it cannot be followed by selfish expectations. God loves cheerful givers. Excellent Saturday. Amen Alain Louz.-
