Theme : " The birth of Jesus Christ "
Text : Matthew 1: 22-25
22. All this happened in order that what the Lord had proclaimed through the prophet might be fulfilled: 23. Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel, which means God with us. . 24. Joseph awoke and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife with him. 25. But he did not know her until she had given birth to a son, to whom he called his name Jesus.
Let us remember:
A real lesson in obedience is taught to us by Joseph through this text. What could have been the object of doubt, of shame, of nervousness, of disappointment, of anguish is for Joseph an occasion of worship. Obedience is the best worship that God takes pleasure in. This text also teaches us the discipline of Joseph. He took his bride but he did not know her until she had given birth to the divine son. It is an expression of discipline but also of patience. To enter into God's plan, it is necessary to combine several sacrifices. Also, obedience must not leave us because we cannot advance in faith as long as obedience is not required. Note that obedience is a characteristic of humility. All of these intersecting points are to help the fulfillment of God's plan in our lives. Jesus would like to live in a heart filled with humility, obedience, patience, temperance, fidelity, faith.
