Theme: "The Benefits of Christ's Redemption"
Text: Ephesians 2:11-18
11. That is why you once pagans in the flesh, called uncircumcised by those so-called circumcised and in the flesh by the hand of man, 12. remember that you were at that time without Christ, deprived of the right of city in Israel, strangers to the covenants of promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13. But now, in Jesus Christ, you who were once distant, you have been brought closer by the blood of Christ. 14. For he is our peace, he who has made only one of them, and who has toppled the wall of separation, enmity, 15. having annihilated by his flesh the law of ordinances in his prescriptions, in order to create in himself with the two one new man, by establishing peace, 16. and to reconcile them, both in one body, with God by the cross, by destroying enmity through it. 17. He came to proclaim peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; 18. For through him we have each other's access to the Father, in the same Spirit.
Retain:
Redemption has opened the main door to salvation. It has also opened several adjacent doors that place Christians in a comfortable position. With redemption, the Christian receives spiritual circumcision which is far more valuable than the circumcision of the flesh. Redemption restores the right of city that every Christian had lost because of sin. Redemption has restored all the covenants of promise broken by the devil's malice. Redemption brings back to our feet, the hope once lost for lack of a savior capable of rescuing the world engulfed in the abyss of sin. Redemption brings us closer to God through the blood of Christ by tossing the gigantic wall of sin that separated us from Him. Starting from our old man, redemption has regenerated a new creature reconciled with God by Christ. This inner man yearns for salvation and relishes the fear of God; while keeping peace with Him. Through redemption, we have access to the Father, under the influence of the Holy Spirit. May nothing and no one close all those doors that Jesus, through redemption, left us gaping. Excellent Sunday under the joy of redemption. amen
