Theme: "The Benefits of Christ's Redemption"

Text: 1 Peter 3:18-22

18. Christ too suffered once for sins, he just for the unjust, in order to bring us to God, having been put to death as to the flesh, but having been made alive as to the Spirit, 19. in which also he went to preach to the spirits in prison, to 20. who had once been incredulous, when God's patience extended, to the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a small number of people, that is, eight, were saved through the water. 21. This water was a figure of baptism, which is not the purification of the stains of the body, but the commitment of a good conscience to God, and which now saves you, too, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22. who is at the right hand of God, since he went to heaven, and the angels, the authorities and the powers, have been subject to him.

Retain:

The redemption of Jesus grants Christians supremacy in the face of the angels, authorities and powers of this world. All the wicked spirits who wanted to hold us captive in sin, disease, unemployment, celibacy, torment... were defeated by the death of Jesus since he went to face them; he emerged victorious by his resurrection. These spirits tried to hold Christ back in the deathly stay, but death could not hold him back. Death gave way to the provider of life and death. How, then, could the earth contain the one that death could not hold back? In Noah's time, God had resurrected Noah and his family while everything else was swallowed up by the waters. Yes it was the sign of baptism because baptism is death and resurrection in Christ. As God had resurrected Noah's race from the flood; thus he has resurrected us from the flood of our sins. So to sin voluntarily would be to laugh at the redemption obtained in Christ Jesus. Excellent Wednesday. amen
