Theme: "Spiritual awakening and discernment"
Text: Philippians 1:9-11
9. And this I pray is that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and full understanding 10. for the discernment of the better things, that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11. filled with the fruit of righteousness which is by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Let us remember:
The prayer that Paul makes for the faithful of the church of Philip is that they grow and take off well without crashing. Paul knows that love is the soul of the Christian life, the soul of all the other gifts of God. Thus, love must be well nourished and strengthened by purity and truth, without which falsehoods could infiltrate to the point of going astray without knowing it. In order not to fall into the pitfalls of self-satisfaction and not to be blinded by the spirit of error, Paul prays that the Philippians would gain knowledge, the true knowledge that the Holy Spirit gives. The teacher par excellence remains the Holy Spirit. It is he who endows the gift of discernment. It is always the Spirit of God who gives full intelligence for the perfection of our discernment. We must nourish our love with knowledge and intelligence as we feed ourselves with fruits and vegetables. Let us give our love knowledge and full intelligence so that our discernment has the best spiritual vitamins that would help it grow better. Knowledge, here, is the clear and distinct perception of the truth. Intelligence is this moral tact that serves as a guide in practical life, it is like a scout. These two values put together under the impulse of the Spirit, give discernment. Discernment keeps us in spiritual awakening, it keeps us in contact with the Word of God in order to be pure and irreproachable for the day of Christ. This is how we will be filled with the fruit of righteousness. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
