Theme: “Seek the presence of the coming King"
Text: Zechariah 12:9-13
9. In that day I will endeavor to destroy all the nations That come against Jerusalem. 10. Then I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication, and they will look to me, whom they have pierced. They will weep over him as one weeps over an only son, They will weep bitterly over him as one weeps over a firstborn. 11. In that day there will be great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon. 12. The land will mourn, each family separately: The family of the house of David separately, and the women apart; The family of Nathan's house separately, and the women apart; 13. The family of the house of Levi separately, and the women apart; Shimei's family separately, and the women apart;
Remember:
After the oracles on the judgment, here this chapter approaches the restoration of Israel. God did not derogate from the rule of restoration which wants that one begins by cleaning the people before restoring them. This is why after the destruction of the reckless kings, after the destruction of the false pastors, the false prophets, the rebellious rulers who misled the multitude; God comes with the remedy that accompanies restoration. God uses a solution that he draws only from himself. Indeed, God does not want to put a human at the center of this restoration. He provides for himself by supplying the people with the spirit of grace and supplication. The Eternal draws from his resources and extricates from them the spiritual part of the human being capable of speaking with the Spirit of God in order to bring back good communion but also frank and sincere communication with his people. When God works on the spiritual, emotions and feelings become better channeled; repentance will be manifest. This results in the tears and the sadness that it engenders. A mourning of repentance will be observed in each house of Israel until obtaining the result of repentance but especially until the true restoration of the people.
