Theme: “Restoration on the way»
Text: Zechariah 6:1-8
1. I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, four chariots were coming out of between two mountains; and the mountains were mountains of brass. 2. In the first chariot there were red horses, in the second chariot black horses, 3. in the third chariot white horses, and in the fourth chariot spotted, red horses. 4. I spoke and said to the angel who spoke with me: What is it, my lord? 5. The angel answered me: These are the four winds of the heavens, which go out from the place where they stood before the Lord of all the earth. 6. The black horses harnessed to one of the chariots go towards the northern country, and the white ones go after them; the spotted ones head for the land of the south. 7. The reds come out and ask to go roam the earth. The angel said to them: Go, roam the earth! And they walked the earth. 8. He called me, and said to me, See, those who go to the north country cause my anger to rest on the north country.
Let's remember:
In this eighth and last vision of Zechariah, we describe the providential role and the final judgment of the empires sent to chastise Israel. It is the process of restoration that begins by proceeding through judgment, absolution, and the coming establishment of the reign of Christ Jesus. All the great empires had suffered failures, and God decided to substitute for these empires, that of Christ and his reign of peace which will never be shaken. In his trademark, God judges, rebukes, warns, calls or delivers. It restores and puts life back where the irreparable was already pronounced. Thus, the red horses express the judgment of the people by Babylon. The brass is the justice of God in the face of sin which he judges for redemption. The brazen altar is the emblem of the cross to purify us. The brazen basin is the establishment of the kingdom of Christ. The horses that come out of their place of confinement go around the world to see the level of sin and its rate of destruction imposed on the world. They will read the facts that shake the world and then the judgment of God will fall on the wickedness of men. May these horses find us in perfect relationship with our God. If necessary, let us offer ourselves and be ready to undergo the restoration which comes. Excellent Tuesday. Amen
