Theme: “Restoration on the way"
Text: Zechariah 5:1-11
1. I lifted up my eyes again and looked, and behold, there was a scroll flying. 2. He said to me: What do you see? I answered: I see a roll that flies; it is twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide. 3. And he said unto me, It is the curse that spreads over all the land; for according to her every thief shall be driven hence, and according to her every perjurer shall be driven hence. 4. I pour it out, saith the LORD of hosts, that it may come into the house of the thief and of him that swears falsely in my name, that he may dwell there, and consume it with the wood and stones. 5. The angel who was talking with me came forward and said to me: Lift up your eyes and see what comes out there. 6. I answered: What? And he said, It is the ephah that comes out. He added: This is their iniquity throughout the land. 7. And behold, a mass of lead arose, and there was a woman seated in the midst of the ephah. 8. He said: This is iniquity. And he pushed it back into the ephah, and he threw the mass of lead over the opening. 9. I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, two women appeared. The wind blew in their wings; they had wings like those of the stork. They removed the ephah between earth and heaven. 10. I said to the angel who spoke with me: Where do they take the ephah? 11. He answered me, They are going to build him a house in the land of Shinar; and when she is ready, he will be laid there in his place.
Remember:
Chapter 4 talks about the release from captivity. It is a day of small beginnings, and the Lord does not despise it. This small beginning can be likened to the beginning of a new era of restoration, a glimmer of hope to come. But four centuries later, Judah hit rock bottom and worsened its condition by putting Jesus the Messiah to death. In chapter 5, the Spirit of God teaches us about the scroll and the extraction of sin. The scroll written by the Eternal with very remarkable dimensions: twenty cubits out of ten similar to the most holy place of the temple of Solomon which had the same dimensions. It was in this place that was the ark, the cherubim, which represented the judicial power of God. Let us remember that it is written: "There shall not be left here a stone upon a stone which shall not be thrown down..." (Matt. 24:2). The Lord heals the sin of the people by casting them away. This purification is preceded by a sort of judgment since restoration befits the holy place. Yes, restoration only takes place where purification has been done with rigor and sincerity. God first removes iniquity by blowing a destructive wind that carries evil away from the people. This is the prerequisite for the restoration to come. Excellent Monday. Amen
