Theme: “Respect for the word of God: Source of blessing for families”
Text: Isaiah 66:1-5
1. Thus says the LORD: Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What house could you build for me, And what place would you give me to live in? 2. All these things my hand has made, and all have come into existence, says the LORD. This is the one on whom I will look: to the one who suffers and is weak in spirit, to the one who fears my word. 3. He who sacrifices an ox is like one who kills a man, he who sacrifices a lamb is like one who breaks the neck of a dog, he who presents an offering is like one who sheds swine's blood, he who burns with incense is like one who worships idols; All these delight in their ways, And their souls delight in their abominations. 4. I also will delight in their misfortune, And I will bring upon them that which causes their fear, Because I called, and they did not answer, Because I spoke, and 'they did not listen; But they have done what is evil in my sight, And they have chosen what is displeasing to me. 5. Hear the word of the LORD, you who fear his word. This is what your brothers say, who hate you and reject you for my name's sake: Let the LORD show his glory, and let us see your joy! -But they will be confused.
Let's remember:
The Lord our God is very selective when it comes to rating good and faithful servants. It is not about those who show off or manipulate people on street corners and in communities around the world. The Lord God looks exclusively at those who suffer and are downcast in spirit, on those who fear his Word. It is respect for the Word of God that is a source of blessing for families. Let us know that God does not look at artifice, he does not look at our confusion but he takes pleasure in blessing the family which dedicates itself to reading, meditation, putting into practice and spreading his Word. Nothing and no one can move God through his offerings or his sacrifices without associating the daily practice of his Word. Heaven is his throne, and the earth his footstool. Everything that moves in heaven and on earth is one of its own creatures. Anyone who builds a house to dedicate it to God is doing a very good thing, but he must also and above all offer his heart to Him as a sacrificial offering. What house could we build for Him, and what place would we give Him as a dwelling place that is not already His? All these things his hand made, and all received existence through Him and for Him. Giving gifts to God without following through with obedience to His Word is nothing more or less than idolatry because God delights in obedience more than sacrifices. Have a great Saturday. Amen
