Theme: “Respect for the word of God: Source of blessing for families

Text: Genesis 26:1-6

1. There was a famine in the land, besides the first famine which was in the days of Abraham; and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines to Gerar. 2. The LORD appeared to him, and said, Do not go down to Egypt, but dwell in the land that I will tell you. 3. Sojourne in this land: I will be with you, and I will bless you, for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, and I will keep the oath that I swore to Abraham your father. 4. I will multiply your descendants like the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these countries; and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in your seed, 5. because Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. 6. And Isaac remained in Gerar.

Let's remember:

Respect for the word of God is the source of blessings in our families. The only most reliable promise in the world is the one made by God. The Lord never dedicates himself except that he can block his promise or move it away when our disobedience is slow to cease. When we entrust our needs to God, He finds adequate solutions for us to all our problems. If we listen to his directions and follow them, it is certain that our life will experience a decisive turning point. Isaac respected the Word of God, he did what God asked him to do. He stayed in Guérar, a place which was not on his agenda. He learned to live there without plans and without provisions; but God was his provision. Several decades can separate the moment when we respect the word of God and when it is heard. Abraham died in obedience without having seen the posterity as numerous as grains of sand. He respected the word of God until the end of his days. He knew that Isaac would be the logical continuation of the promised blessing. With pleasure, let us pass on the rest of our blessings to our descendants. As Abraham respected the Word of God, so did Isaac. Let us show our descendants respect for the word of God. This is what will ensure that there will always be a successor who will take over our blessings. Isaac received the word of God the same way Abraham received it. It was Abraham’s obedience that blessed Isaac. In turn, Isaac takes it upon himself to respect the Word of God to perpetuate the blessing of his family. Have a great Monday. AmenAlain Louz.-
