Theme: “Obedience precedes divine blessings»
Text: Genesis 13:14-18
14. The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, Lift up your eyes, and from the place where you are, look north and south, east and west; 15. For all the land you see I will give to you and to your seed forever. 16. I will make your seed like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone can count the dust of the earth, your seed also will be numbered. 17. Arise, traverse the country in its length and in its breadth; because I will give it to you. 18. Abram pitched his tents, and came to dwell among the oaks of Mamre, which are near Hebron. And he built there an altar to the Lord.
Remember:
It was when Abram separated from his nephew Lot that God showed him the immense extent of his blessing. To believe that God loves separations; But no! This is because Abram's blessing was for his posterity; therefore it was not to be shared with Lot's posterity. Lot had had his share of blessing elsewhere. Note here Abram's obedience at the end of this dialogue with God; he went to the right destination; according to the instruction of God. He did not take the time to reflect on the living conditions there, nor on the people who are in these regions, nor on how and when this promise will be fulfilled. He didn't ask himself a thousand and one questions; he simply obeyed God; he got up to leave. Better! Abram was not content to go and live in the place willed by God; there he built an altar to the Lord; as one would say: God must not be far from Him. The altar can be the symbolism of the sanctuary, of the tabernacle, in short, the place of communion between God and the house of Abram. One man's obedience has blessed many peoples down to the present day. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
