Theme: “Looking back prevents progress” Text: Luke 9:57-62
57. While they were on the way, a man said to him, Lord, I will follow you wherever you go. 58. Jesus answered him, The foxes have dens, and the birds of the sky have their nests: but the Son of man has no place where he can lay his head. 59. He said to another: Follow me. And he answered, Lord, let me first go and bury my father. 60. But Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead; and you go and proclaim the kingdom of God. 61. Another said: I will follow you, Lord, but let me first go and take leave of those of my household. 62. Jesus answered him, Whoever puts his hand to the plow, and looks back, is not fit for the kingdom of God.
Let's remember:
Anyone who puts his hand to the plow, and looks back, is not fit for the kingdom of God. In other words, he who makes a commitment and who mixes lightness with it, does not bring joy to God; therefore will not be saved. This seems banal and harmless, but before God, it is in the little things that he judges our determination. While it is normal to point out to friends and families that from now on, I have become a disciple of Jesus, I will follow him everywhere; but Jesus tells us that we do not need this long protocol. For the Lord God, we must not procrastinate when the opportunity to serve God comes. One should seek neither the approval nor the advice of humans for this is called "looking back". In reality, looking back is equivalent to any attitude of hesitation, embarrassment, indecision, misjudgment. Ordinary mortals would like to take time to reflect, mature the idea before moving forward. Better, we make the business plan to assess the ins and outs. We make the budget and we even project a possible bankruptcy. It is after this feasibility study that we embark on a business, however promising it may be. However, Jesus our Lord tells us not to go in this direction which breaks the dynamic of evangelization. This attitude prevents progress. It annihilates the work of the Holy Spirit. We must know that God is our prospect par excellence. He knows the flaws and the successes to come. Simply entrust him with the direction of everything; without looking back, and boom, success becomes our daily life. Only one secret, never forget to let the Holy Spirit take the direction of all that we want to do. Excellent Friday and good start into the weekend. Amen Alain Louz.-
