Theme: “Looking back prevents progress Text: Jeremiah 7:23-26

23. But this is the command that I gave them: Hear my voice, and I will be your God, and you will be my people; Walk in all the ways that I prescribe to you, So that you may be happy. 24. And they did not listen, they did not give ear; They have followed the advice, the inclinations of their evil heart, They have been backward and not forward. 25. From the day when your fathers came out of the land of Egypt, until this day, I have sent to you all my servants, the prophets, I have sent them daily, from the morning. 26. But they did not listen to me, they did not give ear; They stiffened their necks, They did more evil than their fathers.

Let's remember:

When the people on whom the name of God is invoked refuses to follow the directions of their master, these people look back. Looking back or being behind is living a life of disobedience to the Lord God. We are asked to listen to the voice of the Lord so that he may be our God, and we will be his people. We cannot be God's people if we do not listen to his voice. If we walk in all his ways, we will be happy. Unfortunately, the people choose to stay away from their Lord; he chooses to look back. This is why no great progress is perceptible in his daily life. Not to listen to the voice of God, not to listen to his instructions; to follow the stupid advice and inclinations of our evil heart is to be exactly backward and not forward. No progress can be perceptible in such a life. Despite our presence at all services, despite the great flood of sermons that we broadcast, despite the manifest zeal that characterizes us; if we do not follow obedience and sanctification, our good work is empty and backward. We will tread water despite the number of years in the service of God. Even today, there are many sources of supply of the Word of God, we have no reason to say that we did not know that a freed Christian must no longer look back. Let us not stiffen our necks as our fathers did. Rather, let us listen to the divine messages and obey his voice. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
