Theme: “Looking back prevents progress Text: Matthew 14:25-30

25. On the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. 26. When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, and said, He is a ghost! And in their fright they cried out. 27. Jesus immediately said to them: Be reassured, it is I; do not be afraid! 28. Peter answered him, Lord, if it be you, command me to come to you on the waters. 29. And he said: Come! Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water to go to Jesus. 30. But, seeing that the wind was strong, he was afraid; and, as he began to sink, he cried out: Lord, save me!

Let's remember:

The spiritual about-face is only good when you were going in the wrong direction and decide to turn back. But for a person who had started well and who was already on his way with the Lord Jesus Christ, and who decides to doubt his good choice, while the Lord encourages him to move forward; it denotes a troubled faith. It is an attitude that prevents any progress but tends to sink us, to lose our spiritual and even material advantages. Everything is a function of thought: when a bit of doubt comes to caress our thought in the direction of the hair, that is enough to tip faith towards defeat. This is called looking back; this prevents progress and promotes stagnation. It is very deplorable to decide to send out signals of doubt while on the road with the Lord Jesus. It is an irresponsible attitude to look back when one was well on the way to spiritual growth. Looking back means changing your mind, but a regressive and retrograde view. It is a sudden and total change of opinion but also of attitude. This reversal jeopardizes the whole gracious plan of God. Looking back is synonymous with infidelity, lack of constancy, instability, lack of faith, lack of trust in Jesus Christ our Lord who always helps us to move forward. Indeed, whoever wants to move forward must rely on Jesus and must not look back. Looking back impedes progress. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
