Theme : " Living the Protestant ethic in our families "
Text : Colossians 3:18-25
18. Wives, be subject to your husbands, as befits the Lord. 19. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be embittered against them. 20. Children, obey your parents in all things, for it is pleasing in the Lord. 21. Fathers, do not irritate your children, lest they become discouraged. 22. Servants, obey your masters according to the flesh in all things, not only in their eyes, as if to please men, but with singleness of heart, in the fear of the Lord. 23. Whatever you do, do it with a good heart, as for the Lord and not for men, 24. knowing that you will receive from the Lord the inheritance as a reward. Serve Christ, the Lord. 25. For he that does unrighteously shall receive according to his unrighteousness, and there is no respect of persons.
Let's remember:
The modernism of the past two centuries has brought many people's hearts back to superficial faith; while downplaying the Protestant ethic. Once upon a time, a family with a Protestant ethic shone brightly. One noted the love of the husband for his wife, the submission of the wife towards her husband, the obedience of the children towards their parents and the parents cherished their children. We felt the family base well welded in a sincere love without flaws. God's workers and even state/private authorities were well respected. Love for Christ was the center of all decisions. The Protestant ethic was based on respect for the Word of God. Even today, it is possible to bring our hearts back to the obedience of Christ and to practice his Word, which is the foundation of Protestant ethics. There are still families who keep Christ as the central pillar of their homes. Such families honor God and do not betray the Protestant ethic. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
