Theme: “Living in sincere love

Text: Matthew 5:43-48

43. You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44. But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who despitefully use you and persecute you, 45. that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46. If you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47. And if you only greet your brothers, what do you do more than others? Do not even the Gentiles likewise? 48. Be you therefore perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Let us remember:

Sincere love makes us sons and daughters of God our Father. If we have not yet put sincere love into focus, we are not sons of God. For this reason, God teaches us a new way of life. Let us forget what we have been told since childhood that we must love those who love us. However, the Gentiles do the same thing. So we resemble the Gentiles. God wants to teach us another way of life that is the opposite of what we usually do. It is about loving those who want to kill us, those who have betrayed us, those who plot against us, those who have stolen our wives or husbands, those who have promised us misfortune. This is what God gives us as a challenge to succeed in order to be true children of God. Let us admit to God that it is difficult so that he gives us the ability to do it. The flesh will discourage us by placing us in a position of pride, in an excessive ego. Let us know that each change is difficult, but God will give us the flow of love necessary to triumph. We have in us, this capacity to love our enemies but it is sin that veils our understanding of this. Jesus did it by loving his traitor Judas. If we want to be like Jesus, we must love our enemies, then we will be perfect as He is perfect. Excellent Sunday. Amen
