Theme: "Living in sincere love"
Text: John 15:12-14
12. This is my commandment: Love one another, as I have loved you. 13. Greater love has no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14. You are my friends, if you do what I command you.
Let us remember:
In every true friendship, there is a mutual solidarity that can lead to repeated sacrifices. Out of love, good friends have no difficulty when it comes to helping each other. Love requires us to surpass ourselves and forget ourselves. However, in the case of humans, sacrifices have thresholds that must not be exceeded, whatever the degree of friendship. On the contrary, the love of Jesus has no limits. If a human being cannot give his life, as a proof of sincere love, towards his neighbor; Jesus at least gave his life in order to save all humanity. It is therefore He, Jesus, who teaches us the value of sincere love. Jesus made love a greater commandment that surpasses all the others; at the same time as he summarizes them. This commandment gives us the injunction to love God and our neighbor sincerely, as he loved us. In reality, to better understand it, it is enough to copy the action of Jesus that resulted in the cross. He died a shameful death for the sins he did not commit. And it is there that he tells us that there is no greater love than to give one's life for one's friends. If we do what he commands us, then we are his friends. In short, sincere love consists in giving and not in receiving. The Father gave us his Son and; the Son gave his life on the cross. Incomparable and unconditional love. Excellent Wednesday. Amen.
