Topic: “Let Us Prepare the Way of the Lord”
Text: Luke 7:24-30
24. When John’s messengers had departed, Jesus began to say to the crowds about John, “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 25. But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear luxurious clothing and live luxuriously are in kings’ houses. 26. What did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. 27. This is he of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’ 28. I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John.” However, he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 29. And all the people who heard him, and also the tax collectors, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John; 30. but the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, by not being baptized by him, made void the purpose of God for themselves.
Let us remember:
Serious guilt in refusing the message of salvation. God sends his servants to teach us the paths of redemption and salvation in Jesus. Refusing this message is self-flagellation. When we refuse the message that alerts us to the urgency of preparing the way of the Lord, it can be likened to pure suicide. John is the Eli announced by the prophets. He was to prepare the way of the Lord Jesus. However, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law refused to be baptized by him. From then on, they had made void the purpose of God for them. But the same is true for us. How many servants of God are calling us to the new birth? All social networks are saturated with messengers announcing the imminent arrival of the Lord Jesus Christ. However, we continue to ignore them; we walk in our old ways. We close our ears to these calls for repentance and salvation. Eminent pastors, evangelists, lay people are working for the installation of the kingdom of God. Let us not be like the messengers of John or like John himself who had prepared the way of the Lord and who succumbed under the pressure of arbitrary detention, to the point of doubting Jesus. However, he had already testified that Jesus is the Son of God. Let us go to the end of our faith and enter into eternal life. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
