Theme: “Let us examine everything in order to retain what is good for the uplifting of the Church” Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:21-23
21. But examine all things; retain what is good; 22. Abstain from all kinds of evil. 23. May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely, and may your whole being, spirit, soul, and body, be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Let's remember:
If we examine everything to retain what is good, which would help to uplift the Church, we would have taken a giant step in our journey to the heavenly city. Salvation comes from God; we get it by grace through faith. It may seem a bit incongruous, but it's the only short explanation that holds water. To acquire salvation, we have a part of responsibility which falls on us to know how to examine everything in order to choose what helps to be saved. There are decisions to be made, there are choices to be made; there are commitments to keep. In reality, it is not good to be insensitive when it comes to positioning yourself. When you have to make a choice, you have to go without hesitation because there are decisions that are only made once in a lifetime and that it is not possible to make up for. A broken glass can no longer be repaired. This is why we must examine everything before making a decision informed by the analysis and discernment of the Holy Spirit of God in us. Then, we must retain what is good, what contributes to our salvation, to our spiritual stability, to our peace, which contributes to the upliftment of the Church. So, let's reject everything that takes us away from God, let's abstain from all kinds of evil. Let us always abstain from evil. You must abstain from evil all your life. In front of people and when we are alone, let us abstain from sin. When we succeed in examining everything to retain what is good, if we abstain from every kind of evil, the God of peace will sanctify us and our whole being, spirit, soul and body, will be kept blameless, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Excellent Friday and good start into the weekend. Amen Alain Louz.-
