Theme : “ Let us examine all things and retain what is pleasing to God in his Church Text : Philippians 3:7-11

7. But those things which were gain to me, I looked upon as loss, for Christ's sake. 8. And even I regard all things as loss, because of the excellence of the knowledge of Jesus Christ my Lord, for whom I have renounced everything, and I regard them as mud, in order to gain Christ, 9. and to be found in him, not with my righteousness, which comes from the law, but with that which is obtained by faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God through faith, 10. In order to know Christ, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, by becoming like him in his death, to come, 11. if I can, to the resurrection from the dead.

Let's remember:

The apostle Paul had spent many years at the feet of the Lawyer Gamaliel, learning the accurate knowledge of the law from his fathers. Paul was full of zeal for God. He had "worked" hard to enforce the Mosaic law, he wanted all the people to be faithful to this law of Moses. But when the Spirit of God took control of his life; Paul understood that all those years of training and persecution of the church was vanity and chasing wind. He regretted the time spent learning from Gamaliel. He was saddened by the memory of his journey; he who had sanctioned the murder of the disciple called Stephen. Discernment through the Holy Spirit transformed Paul's life. Thus, he learned to examine all things and to retain only those which advance the work of Christ within his Church. The law of Moses had become mud in Paul's eyes compared to the law of Jesus Christ. Now according to Paul, dying for Christ becomes gain in order to rise from the dead by the power of God. Excellent Thursday. Amen Alain Louz.-
