Let us aspire to the maturity of life in Jesus Christ

Sunday May 14, 2023

Theme: "Let us aspire to the maturity of life in Jesus Christ" Text: 2 Peter 1:3-10

3. As his divine power has given us all that contributes to life and godliness, by means of the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and by his virtue, 4. which assure us from him the greatest and most precious promises, that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, fleeing from the corruption that exists in the world through covetousness, 5. for this very reason, make every effort to join to your faith virtue, to virtue science, 6. to science temperance, to temperance patience, to patience godliness, 7. to godliness brotherly love, to brotherly love charity. 8. For if these things be in you, and are there abundantly, they shall not leave you idle or barren for the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9. But he in whom these things are not is blind, he cannot see afar, and he has forgotten the cleansing of his former sins. 10. Therefore, brethren, apply yourselves all the more to confirming your vocation and your election; because, by doing this, you will never flinch.

Let's remember:

By reading 2 Peter 1:3-10, we are entitled to affirm that a well-made, well-established Christian passes from the carnal life to the spiritual life and this by the strong grace of God. A grace that rolls better when it intersects with love and obedience to God in the life of this Christian. Indeed, the obedient Christian becomes at the same time the dispenser, the depositary and the possessor of a great spiritual wealth. All this passes through the knowledge of the one who called us from darkness to his marvelous light; by his own glory and by his virtue. Our effort is required but it would not be enough to get there. The weakness of the flesh can bring us back if we go there without associating the Eternal God who is the true and the only provider of excellent graces, of perfect gifts. We are never stronger than when God teaches us and accompanies us in his love. Let us protect ourselves from the corruption of the flesh, let us avoid falling into lust. Let us put on faith, virtue, science, piety, temperance, patience, brotherly love, charity in short let us wrap ourselves in the fruit of the spirit. This is how we will come to maturity in Jesus Christ. Living such a life will never again leave us idle or barren for the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But if we do the opposite, we will become spiritually blind. We will lose lucidity and even discernment; we will remain in the immaturity of life in Jesus Christ. Excellent Sunday of maturity of life in Jesus Christ. Amen Alain Louz.-
