Theme: "Let us aspire to the maturity of life in Jesus Christ" Text: Hebrews 6:1-3
1. Therefore, leaving the elements of the word of Christ, let us tend to that which is perfect, without laying again the foundation of the renunciation of dead works, 2. of faith in God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3. This we will do, God permitting.
Let's remember:
Chapter 6 of the epistle to the Hebrews comes to support what was already started in chapter 5, namely the growth or the move towards the maturity of life in Jesus Christ. Indeed, the writer of this epistle calls the Hebrews to leave baseness, to separate themselves from childishness and to put on the stature of maturity of life in Christ Jesus. He wonders why they have not yet arrived at the posture of the doctors when a flood of teachings was transmitted to them. The Hebrews must then advance towards "perfection", or the state of grown men or towards the maturity of life in Jesus Christ. They should not reject the teachings received at the beginning of their faith in Jesus Christ because they are the bases, the foundations of the maturity of life. Not abandoning these teachings does not mean stagnating or being static, we must move forward towards the highest things, towards the maturity of life in Jesus Christ. To go towards maturity of life in Jesus Christ is to cease to lay again the foundation of the renunciation of dead works, of faith in God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of the laying on of hands, of the resurrection of the dead , and of eternal judgment. These foundations are already laid; they must remain solid and well structured in us. Let's not set out again to undo or revisit them; let us preserve them and go towards the perfect knowledge of Jesus Christ; let us go towards the full maturity of life. What is acquired remains, let us discover the sublime, the sumptuous, the glorious: the maturity of life in Jesus Christ. Excellent Friday and good start into the weekend. Amen Alain Louz.-
