Theme: "Let us aspire to the maturity of life in Jesus Christ" Text: Ephesians 4:17-24
17. This therefore is what I say, and what I declare in the Lord, that ye must no more walk like the heathen, who walk after the vanity of their thoughts. 18. They are dulled in mind, alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardening of their hearts. 19. Having lost all feeling, they gave themselves up to lasciviousness, to commit every kind of impurity joined to covetousness. 20. But you, it is not thus that you have learned Christ, 21. if at least you have heard him, and if, according to the truth which is in Jesus, it is in him that you have been instructed to put off yourselves, 22. in regard to your past life, of the old man which is corrupted by deceitful lusts, 23. to be renewed in the spirit of your understanding, 24. and to put on the new man, created according to God in righteousness and holiness produced by truth.
Let's remember:
The maturity of life in Jesus consists in putting on the new man, created according to God in a justice and a holiness produced by the truth. To achieve this posture, we must accept to be renewed in the spirit of our intelligence. This is only possible if we agree to divest ourselves of our old man who is easily corrupted by deceptive lusts. Let us walk according to the truth which is in Jesus Christ, without turning aside neither to the left nor to the right. We must separate ourselves from the old nature, we must refuse to walk according to the vanity of our thoughts. Every Christian must get away from the pagan life. Our way of life must shine in the light of the Word of God. Let us learn the ways of God in order to come out of ignorance and hardness of heart. If we do, our life will change, our minds will no longer be clouded, and we will no longer be strangers to the life of God. God calls us to this change of course in order to please Him and save our lives from eternal loss. Let everyone shield themselves from the consequences inherent in hard-heartedness and ignorance. Let us enter the new life, the new dimension made of maturity of life in Jesus and strong obedience to God. We join the rank of maturity of life in Jesus as soon as we leave behind ignorance and hardness of heart; as soon as we reach the intelligence enlightened by the Word of God.
