Theme: "Let us aspire to the maturity of life in Jesus Christ" Text: Hebrews 5:12-14
12. You, indeed, who should long ago be masters, you still need to be taught the first rudiments of the oracles of God, you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13. Now whoever is of milk has no experience of the word of righteousness; because he is a child. 14. But solid food is for grown men, for those whose judgment is exercised by use to discern what is right and what is wrong.
Let's remember:
When we reach maturity in terms of natural age, we can choose the foods we would like to eat. At this age, there is no longer anyone who decides our tastes and the frequency of our meals. However, growth foods can no longer fill our menu because it is intended for children who need said growth. This concerns the flesh or the physical body. In the spiritual realm, there are also foods that make up the menu of nutritional meals for the mind and soul. Without these foods, one is close to spiritual malnutrition. It is therefore the meaning of these verses that call us to growth towards spiritual maturity. Newly arrived in the field of faith, we should take catechism classes followed by long strengthening sessions. These courses serve to solidify our still fragile faith. We must therefore move on to the stage which is that of taking root in the faith. Then will follow the step that requires us to bear fruit worthy of repentance. Finally, we must allow our contemporaries to feed on our fruits. We must also provide the seed for future generations. Let's not back down to infant nutrition because it is unsuitable for mature age. Let us strive to nourish ourselves better so that our maturity has meaning. Excellent Wednesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
