Theme : " Let's say no to perversion in the Church "
Text : 1 Corinthians 5:1-5
1. It is generally said that there is unchastity among you, and unchastity such as is not met with even among the heathen; so much so that one of you has his father's wife. 2. And you are puffed up! And you were not rather in affliction, so that he who committed this act might be taken away from among you! 3. For me, absent in body, but present in spirit, I have already judged, as if I were present, the one who committed such an act. 4. In the name of the Lord Jesus, you and my spirit being assembled with the power of our Lord Jesus, 5. let such a man be handed over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Let's remember:
This redundant post returns to hammer out Friday's with the same reference; surmounted by 3 complementary verses. Today, we come to support the gangrenous side marking the dangerousness of such acts within the communities. The sanction is certainly not the best remedy; but there are times when we have to resort to strong means to preserve the faith of the greatest number. When within an assembly, one notices the proliferation of immoral and perverse attitudes; to the point where the limbs are shocked and weakened; the apostle Paul teaches us to punish such people. Weak minds are easily touched by such scandals; they remain traumatized. Others will want to endorse and imitate what is punishable and shameful. It is therefore in order to preserve the members that Paul goes there with the ultimate and extreme sanctions of delivering a malefactor to the devil. Let us choose modesty and sanctification rather than going to imitate the pagan practices of incest which will never go unpunished. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
