Let’s be generous

Sunday March 3, 2024

Theme: “Let’s be generous

Text: 2 Corinthians 9:6-14

6. Know this, that he who sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will reap bountifully. 7. Let each give as he has resolved in his heart, without sadness or constraint; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8. And God is able to fill you with all kinds of grace, so that, always having in all things sufficient to meet all your needs, you may still have an abundance for every good work, 9. as it is written: He has made largesse, he gave to the poor; His righteousness endures forever. 10. He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for his food, will provide and multiply seed for you, and will increase the fruits of your righteousness. 11. You will thus be enriched in all respects for every kind of liberality which, through our means, will cause thanksgiving to be offered to God. 12. For the help of this assistance not only supplies the needs of the saints, but is also an abundant source of many thanksgiving to God. 13. In consideration of this help which they experience, they glorify God for your obedience in the profession of the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of your gifts towards them and towards all; 14. They pray for you, because they love you because of the eminent grace that God has given you.

Let's remember:

Life is made in such a way that whoever takes care of others, God will raise up someone who will take care of him. As we share our wealth with others, God will send us new sources of blessing. The amount we pour into our neighbor's glass; it is the same quantity that will be donated to us. Everything must be done in an attitude of disinterestedness so that God will be praised. If we sow little, we will reap little. He who is not generous should not expect others to be generous with him. Let each give as he has resolved in his heart, without sadness or constraint; for God loves a cheerful giver. The impulse of the heart that drives us determines our degree of love when we take action. He who is generous does things without sadness or constraint; but with great joy. He gives without pride, without waiting to be congratulated and often he gives in secret. He who is generous does everything with deep love from his heart. It is his heart that overflows with love and the result is visible wherever he goes. He does not wait to be asked to demonstrate his generous character. He reacts without waiting and above all without waiting to be begged. As for those who are generous through mimicry or appearance, only God can settle their score. God gives largesse to the generous, he gives to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. Being generous is a grace. Excellent Sunday. Amen
