Theme: “Let’s be generous”
Text: Matthew 6:1-4
1. Be careful not to practice your righteousness before men, to be seen by them; otherwise you will have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. 2. Therefore when you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be glorified by men. Truly I tell you, they receive their reward. 3. But when you give alms, let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4. that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
Let's remember:
Being generous does not rhyme with noise from photo shows, videos, newspapers. A generous person makes donations without taking photos even if they have to show partners. Donations should not be followed by recommendations. Sometimes we want to help people by giving them alms, but deep down we take away their dignity. When we make a donation, we take photos or videos of people to broadcast in the media; we present them as destitute, it is a subtle way of stealing their dignity. Almsgiving is done in total discretion. The left hand of the person giving alms should not know how much the right hand has given. The person making the donation must not disseminate the information to themselves. She must ignore several pieces of information regarding the donation she has just made. She must be missing the information of the person she just helped. It would also help to not expect anything from the person being rescued. Anyone who has already donated by taking the photos, please know that your donation was multiplied by zero. God was horrified by it, he never returned it a hundredfold. No need for archives, no newspapers, nothing at all. It is veiled pride that pushes people to take video photos when they are giving alms. We should also not make announcements to say that we will go and give alms; It’s pride, it’s a lack of discretion. We have seen people who had an accident on the way while going to give alms in the media; and who have no longer arrived at their place of alms. God had stopped it dead in its tracks. Have a great Thursday. Amen
