Topic: "Joseph's Youth and His Faithfulness to God."
Text: Genesis 37:9-11.
9. He had yet another dream, and he told it to his brothers. He said, I have dreamed yet another dream; and behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars bowed down to me. 10. He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, What is this dream that you have had? Must we, your mother, and your brothers, come and bow down to the ground before you? 11. His brothers envied him, but his father remembered these things.
Let us remember:
Several preachers condemn Joseph's attitude of divulging his dreams. In a sense, they are right because discretion protects us from the relentlessness of humans and even the devil. However, in another sense, yes, we must disclose premonitory dreams, which are precursors and the foundation of a future that would manifest the greatness and power of God in our lives. There are other lessons to be learned, such as the uselessness of hatred because at the end of the road, the hated person becomes the deciding pillar of the lives of his persecutors. Joseph's brothers and his parents understood that a brother or son is not hated, there is no replacement. Having a brother who has clear and realistic dreams should help us calibrate our lives in order to fit into the plan that God announces through him, in dreams. It is a great asset to know in advance what our future will be like, by relying on what was revealed in the dream. It is an opportunity to work on humility because God is sovereign in raising someone smaller than oneself. Let us accept it and work together without hindering God's plan. When God speaks to us through dreams, it is because he is preparing us to move forward towards the plan he has planned so as not to fumble in life. Let us respect God's election. Joseph was faithful to God to the point of not withholding the message revealed in the dream. Joseph's immaturity or innocence in announcing his secret to everyone allowed us to know that God has been speaking to us since our early years: let us be attentive and submit to his will. Excellent Friday and good start to the weekend. Amen
