Theme: "Joseph's youth and his faithfulness to God."

Text: Genesis 30:25-26.

25. When Rachel had given birth to Joseph, Jacob said to Laban, Let me go, so that I may go to my home, to my country. 26. Give me my wives and my children, for whom I have served you, and I will go; for you know what service I have done for you.

Let us remember:

During the time when Jacob worked for his father-in-law Laban, the flock he was responsible for grazing increased dazzlingly and exponentially. A grace followed Jacob and it fell to Joseph his son, when it came to managing the property of Potiphar and Pharaoh. The birth of Joseph was a trigger for Jacob to return to the lands of his ancestors and continue his life with his wives. Jacob served Laban for several years to deserve his wives. This is a kind of dowry that he paid before taking his wives. The dowry finds its biblical explanation based on the years that Jacob spent serving his father-in-law without being paid. However, Laban recognizes that thanks to Jacob, he became rich because his flock increased. In verse 27 he says this: "Listen, I pray you, if I have found favor in your sight; I know that the Lord has blessed me because of you." We know that this same sentence or almost comes back in verse 2 of chapter 39 of Genesis but this time, it concerns his son Joseph. It is written: "The Lord was with him, and prosperity accompanied him; he dwelt in the house of his master, the Egyptian." The graces of the good manager Jacob were transmitted to Joseph. Laban even wanted Jacob to set his own wage rate and he would be paid, proof that he was indispensable as his son Joseph later became in Egypt. In verse 28, Laban said to him: "set me your wages, and I will give it to you". If we are pleasing to God, we will leave many blessings to our children. Excellent Tuesday. Amen.
