Theme: “Jesus is welcomed as King“
Text: Matthew 21:5-8
5. Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold, your king is coming to you, Full of meekness, and riding on an ass, On a colt, the colt of an ass. 6. The disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7. They brought the donkey and the colt, put their clothes on them, and made him sit on them. 8. Most people in the crowd spread their clothes on the way; others cut branches from trees and strewed the road with them.
Let's remember:
This event, which seems to be improvised, is a real declaration of authority and power. If for men, it's an improvisation but for God, it's an event that is on Jesus' agenda because his whole route was already mapped out before he left his heavenly throne. In Eastern civilization, when the king arrived in a locality, the crowd spread out the clothes on the way; she cut branches from the trees and strewed the road with them. This was done for Jesus too. But there is still a notion that accentuates his royalty: those who preceded and those who followed Jesus cried: “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest places”. “Hosanna” means: “Save, please”. All this logistics deployed during the passage of Jesus Christ proves that the crowd recognized the royalty of Jesus Christ. The event was so great that when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was moved, and they said: Who is this? Jesus is welcomed as King with all the honors and all the protocol that goes with it. In our turn, let us develop our faith, prepare our hearts for the reception of the King so that he may remain there and that our hearts may be his throne. Excellent Sunday. Amen Alain Louz.-
