Theme: “Jesus is welcomed as King“
Text: Psalms 20:1-10
1. (20:1) To the chief singer. Psalm of David. (20:2) May the Lord hear you in the day of trouble, May the name of the God of Jacob protect you! 2. (20:3) May he send you help from the sanctuary, May he sustain you from Zion! 3. (20:4) Let him remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt offerings! 4. (20:5) May he give you what your heart desires, And may he accomplish all your purposes! 5. (20:6) We will rejoice in your salvation, We will lift up the standard in the name of our God; The Lord will grant all your wishes. 6. (20:7) I already know that the Lord saves his anointed; He will hear it from heaven, from his holy abode, By the mighty help of his right hand. 7. (20:8) These lean on their chariots, those on their horses; We call on the name of the Lord our God. 8. (20:9) They bend and fall; We, we stand firm, and remain standing. 9. (20:10) Lord, save the king! May he hear us when we invoke him!
Let's remember:
Until our century and those before, humans have always trusted their property, their intelligence, their relationships, their family. It is true that all these resources manage to solve certain difficult situations. However, all their solutions are fragile as is the human being who is like a flower that blooms in the morning and withers in the evening. This fragility of human nature marks the difference with the divine which is eternally strong and alive. “These mention their chariots and those their horses, but we mention the name of the Lord our God”. It is from this that we draw the good reasons to welcome Jesus as King. The remnant of Israel had staked everything on their King, making Him their center of interests and affections. “They bend, and they fall; We stand firm, and remain standing”. When one belongs to a King of such rank, one will find every reason to come and bow one's heart before his face and welcome him as a King. If Jesus did not have the royal charisma, no one would flinch in front of his presence since he would be similar to ordinary mortals. Since this psalm is one of those which present Jesus as King; let us then welcome our Lord Jesus as King. Excellent Tuesday. Amen Alain Louz.-
